Can you take Wegovy (semaglutide) and Saxenda (liraglutide) together?

No, you cannot take Saxenda® and Wegovy® together. Both Wegovy and Saxenda are FDA-approved medications for weight loss that are in the family of drugs known as glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonists. They mimic the GLP-1 hormone that our body naturally produces to decrease appetite and cravings. Because Wegovy and Saxenda act similarly in the body, you can’t take Saxenda and Wegovy together because the safety of using both medications simultaneously is unknown. Common side effects of these medications include nausea, vomiting, constipation and diarrhea, and taking semaglutide and liraglutide together may increase the risk for more serious side effects. To determine whether you are a candidate for a Wegovy or Saxenda prescription, speak with your doctor. Make sure to also consult your doctor before considering taking any other weight loss medications with Saxenda.
