Can you take Wegovy (semaglutide) twice a week?

You should not take Wegovy® twice a week. Taking Wegovy for weight loss more frequently than recommended can lead to dangerously high levels of the drug in your body, which could cause serious side effects such as severe nausea and vomiting. This is because the half life of the medication - or the time it takes for 50% of the drug to be removed from your body - is seven days. Taking Wegovy every seven days will ensure adequate drug levels are maintained, so it’s important not to inject semaglutide more than once a week. If you miss a dose of Wegovy, take the medication as soon as you remember, but only if your next dose is more than two days away. Skipping weekly doses is not recommended. If you forget to take Wegovy, contact your healthcare provider for further instruction, as you may need to restart the medication again at a lower dose.
