Do Wegovy injections hurt?

No, the Wegovy injection does not hurt overall. Most people find the Wegovy® injection to be relatively painless and easy to do. The Wegovy needle goes just under the skin (subcutaneous) into an area of fat, not into muscle or a vein. It’s recommended to administer in the abdomen or outer thigh (or you can have someone else administer it in the back of the upper arm). To minimize chances that the Wegovy injection hurts, rotate injection sites weekly (e.g. left side versus right side), and if you are administering other agents in the same area of the body, do not inject right next to them. Be sure to familiarize yourself with how to give yourself the injection and what to do with your used pen by using Wegovy’s instructional resources and discussing with your doctor.
