How often do you take Zepbound (tirzepatide)?
Zepbound® is an injectable medication that you take once weekly at any time of day, with or without food. Zepbound for weight loss is available as an autoinjector in six doses (2.5 mg, 5 mg, 7.5 mg, 10 mg, 12.5 mg and 15 mg) and in vials in 2.5 mg and 5 mg doses. After 4 weeks the dose may be increased depending on how the patient is tolerating the medication. If you are having side effects or your appetite is very low, your medical provider may not recommend increasing the dose as scheduled. In some cases, it may be recommended to decrease the dose to allow your body more time to adjust to the effects. It is important to check in with your medical provider with each step up in dose to track your progress and monitor for any side effects. If you miss a dose of your medication, it’s recommended to take it as soon as possible within the next 4 days. If more than 4 days have passed, then resume the next dose on the regularly scheduled day. If it has been more than 2 weeks from your last Zepbound injection, contact your medical provider and do not take the missed dose. You should not double up on doses.
