What are the side effects of Ozempic (semaglutide)?
Common Ozempic® (semaglutide) side effects include nausea, vomiting, heartburn, stomach upset, constipation, tiredness, headaches, and diarrhea. Patients typically start on the lowest dose of the medication to allow the body to adjust to having Ozempic in the system, then gradually increase the dose with close monitoring for difficulty tolerating the medication. Some patients may also experience bruising with the injections. Rare but serious side effects reported by the manufacturer include severe allergic reaction, kidney damage, pancreatitis, gallbladder disease, and hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) when used in combination with other medications that lower blood sugar. It is important to review potential side effects with your doctor before starting Ozempic and notify your doctor if you have any concerns about side effects you are experiencing while taking the medication.
