Side effects are typically mild to moderate in severity and more apparent with starting the medication and when increasing the dose. As it is an injectable medication, some may also have bruising at the injection site. Rare but serious side effects include severe gallbladder disease, pancreatitis, kidney damage, and when used in combination with other medications that lower blood sugar it can cause hypoglycemia (low blood sugar). Before starting Mounjaro, it is important to review these potential side effects with your doctor and be sure to discuss any concerns about side effects while taking the medication.
